Music Leaders for Social Justice Certificate

Created by: The Liberation and Justice Project Foundation and The Dr. Muhammad Experience

The Music Leaders for Social Justice Certificate is designed uniquely for the Warner Music/Blavatnik Center for Business Fellowship Program. The certificate seeks to empower undergraduate fellows to develop and expand their capacity as future music executives who unapologetically center social justice through the pillars of truth, service and excellence. Through a self-paced and hybrid professional development course model, fellows are exposed to specialized curriculum content that elevates student consciousness and solution-based thinking at the intersection of music and social justice. In addition, this certificate incorporates a health and wellness respite to remind emerging social justice leaders about the importance of self-care and rest throughout one’s plight for social justice. The Music Leaders for Social Justice Certificate curriculum is designed in five modules. Each module has lectures by experts in the field and are set around the following themes.

(1) Anti-Blackness and Racism

(2) Social Movement, Activism, and Music

(3) Emancipatory and Community-Based Research

(4) Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Practice

(5) Social Justice  Forward
